FAQ

Can we pay for sessions in bulk, or can we pay for sessions as we go?

Of course you can! I understand that everyone has different financial situations and therefore I'm more than happy for you to pay for sessions as you go or to pay in advance for a set amount of sessions. When sessions are booked as a bulk of 6 sessions I can discount them from £360 to £325.

What times can I book sessions in for and how often?

I have fixed time slots throughout the day and in to the evenings. I typically only work Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's due to health and other commitments.

Typically all counselling sessions are carried out on a weekly basis and I ask for a minimum of six weekly sessions initially, however I understand that this isn't always possible for everyone so please get in touch with me if this might be difficult for you.  After your initial six weekly sessions people often choose to continue weekly or move to fortnightly sessions.

Why do you charge £60 an hour?

Currently I feel that this price recognises the skills, experience and training I have undertaken whilst still remaining as affordable as possible to a wide range of people. This price also takes in to account the costs needed to run a small therapy business: administration, accountancy, utilities, supervision, resources, membership fees, ICO registration and other costs, as well as allowing me to earn and fair and just income also. Please see below for other ways of funding this if needed.

Will you come to my TAC, TAF, review meeting etc. or will you write reports for my social worker, school, CAMHS worker etc.?

I typically don't attend meetings and I no longer write reports for clients either. Primarily this is due to insurance purposes, however it also due to the sheer amount of time and administration it takes.

If asked for, I can write a brief letter on headed paper outlining who I am, what I do and how long you have been seeing me for.

I'm struggling to pay the fees, is there anywhere I can go for help?

You may be able to gain support with funding in the following ways:

  • If you or your young person are involved with social services or has a social worker.

  • If you or your young person are in receipt of DLA (Disability Living Allowance) or PIP (Personal Independence Payment) which can be used to pay towards such things as therapy and counselling.

  • You could also talk to your young person's education setting about how they can support you, as schools can also buy in to our services and help can sometimes be provided through Early Help.

  • Some charities may also be willing to help with such costs.

Is your location accessible?

My premise is unfortunately inaccessible for someone who would be in a wheelchair or may struggle with uneven ground and steps. There is an uneven gravel path to the premise, a small step through the gate and a larger step in to the building.

I also do not have toilet facilities.

Parking is a 2 minute walk away. There is a bus stop right outside my house.

Beyond this I try to be as accessible as possible and can make adjustments to the room. There are some different sitting options, lights can be dimmed, sensory items and fidgets are available, we can play music/or not and you are welcome to bring a snack or a drink (although I do not provide these)

Why do you have such an in-depth risk assessment?

I ask for a risk assessment from anybody who uses my therapy services so that I can be aware of, and meet the needs of, any person attending as thoroughly and appropriately as possible. It also allows me to make sure I am safeguarding you (the client), other people and any one else to the best of my ability at all times.

Do not worry if you answer yes to some questions - you will never be judged!

In some rare cases I may feel that I'm not the most appropriate support for you or your young person and that I may not be able to meet your needs successfully. This is a rare situation, however, if it happens I will make sure to signpost you to more appropriate support.
