Therapy for young people

Being a young person can be hard enough on its own some days, let alone when we have other struggles happening as well.

Coming to therapy can have many benefits and aims such as:

to give you a safe, non-judgmental space to be comfortable and authentic in

to support you in the decisions you want to make

to help you feel more in-control of the things that are going on in your life

to allow you to talk through any issues that may feel 'stuck' or hard to deal with on your own

to help you feel happier and calmer

to help you develop tools and strategies to make life feel easier and more hopeful

Types of therapy:

I am an Integrative therapist. This means I use a few different 'types' of therapy to support you in the best way I can. The core parts of my training are in:

  • Person Centred Therapy (PCT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Gestalt, and

  • Mindfulness

I also have many other qualifications on a range of topics, models and personal interests. These help me to expand the ways in which I can support you better, and allow me to be more able to deliver therapy in a way of that you would like to explore. Some of these additional trainings include:

  • Attachment theory

  • Creative based therapy like art and play

  • Lego therapy

  • Clay therapy

  • Using board and video games

  • Autism & neurodivergence awareness

  • Sensory needs

Relationship is key

I strongly believe the relationship between client and counsellor is one of the most important parts of counselling and therapy. My main aim during sessions is to allow you to feel safe and comfortable so that when you feel it's right, you can start to talk about some of the things that are troubling you.

My whole approach is based around you and what you want from counselling; whether that is an ear to listen, coping strategies to take away or a place where you can completely be yourself and begin to explore some of the things that are causing you distress.
