Therapy for adults

As well as specialising in counselling for young people I do also offer counselling to all ages as my speciality can be useful for those who are younger adults, adults who perhaps want to work on childhood issues and adults who are interested in working in more creative and dynamic ways, or you might just like what you've read so far and think we'll be a good suit for each other.

The types of concerns and worries I can help support with are:
Wellbeing support
Support and help to manage low mood, anxiety and other matters that are effecting your daily wellbeing.
Unresolved concerns from childhood
You may feel experiences in your earlier years are effecting you and you'd like to explore this further
Communication struggles
Struggling to feel heard, applying boundaries in your life or maintaining relationships.
Societal pressures
Fears and concerns that you're feeling based on the pressures that society puts on you; achieving certain milestones, adhering to a certain way etc.
Neurodivergent needs
Helping support with all aspects of neurodivergence; accepting a diagnosis, supporting loved one, managing your own needs, having a validating ear to listen to you
What model of therapy do we use:
My initial qualifying training was in an Integrative model of Humanistic therapy, which means I have knowledge and experience of many models of therapy rather than just one type. This included:

-
Person Centred Therapy (PCT)
-
A humanistic approach where the work is primarily client focused and led.
-

-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
An approach that focuses on thought patterns and challenging existing ways of thinking to create new thought patterns.
-

-
Gestalt
-
A holistic approach that gets you to focus on you in the present moment and develop a greater sense of self awareness through discussion or creative experiences.
-

-
Mindfulness
-
An approach used to focus on the present moment and gain self-awareness through self-applied strategies and coping mechanisms.

Continued professional development:
I also maintain my knowledge and skills by attending regular CPD on a range of topics and models of therapy, these help to keep me up to date on current practices and information, diverse in what I can offer clients and allows me to maintain my commitments to my governing body.
Some of the skills and knowledge I've gained through further education and CPD are:

-
Attachment theory
-
Creative based therapy like art and play
-
Lego therapy
-
Clay therapy
-
Using board and video games
-
Autism & neurodivergence awareness
-
Sensory needs

Relationship is key
I strongly believe the relationship between client and counsellor is one of the most important parts of counselling and therapy. My main aim during sessions is to allow you to feel safe and comfortable so that when you feel it's right, you can start to talk about some of the things that are troubling you.

My whole approach is based around you and what you want from counselling; whether that is an ear to listen, coping strategies to take away or a place where you can completely be yourself and begin to explore some of the things that are causing you distress.
